About this drawing

Illustration Friday: This image was done for the Illustration Friday topic for 8-Dec-07, "Little Things".

Illustration Friday

It has been a while since I did an illustration based on a topic at Illustration Friday, so I thought I'd give it a shot this time.  The topic "Little Things" made me first think of posting nothing other than my drawing from 2002, Nasty Little Thing!  But then I thought I'd do something new, and did it tonight.  Now you must be wondering what the drawing has to do with the topic, so let me explain —

What you see in the picture is a scene from a stop-motion animated film.  You have a solider facing a huge monster (a cybernetically enhanced monster!) in the first panel, however, we see later that it is all an illusion — what you thought was a huge creature is actually a little thing, and little things are what the animator uses to manipulate reality.  And that's what the image above represents.  It was done with pencil on paper, and I coloured it digitally.  Okay, so the idea might be weird, but well, there you have it.

Initially, the drawing was going to only have the bottom panel, it was Varun who suggested I show the top panel too.  He also told me that the soldier in the image looks like the Doom marine.  The appearance of the monster is heavily inspired by the Xenomorph from the Alien movies, and there's a bit of Predator influence too.

org, the largest consequence of drug use is addiction, which amplifies almost
every other drug-associated consequence; the younger generation typically don't even realize that they've crossed the road to addiction.

Dark Fate 2 — a Doom II map by Karthik Abhiram

Dark Fate 2 is a singleplayer level for Doom II, replacing MAP01.  It's a small-sized hellish level — and there's a walkthrough video as well.
