About this drawing

A drawing based on one of my all-time favourite movies, Fight Club, with Brad Pitt and Edward Norton from the movie.  I used this poster as reference —

Fight Club Movie Poster

This is not the first time I'm drawing a picture based on this movie (the earlier one), and like the other one I have a quote from the movie at the bottom.  As Tyler (Brad Pitt) from the movie says, "You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake", so I've called this picture Fight Club — Snowflake.

How this drawing came about is a bit complicated.  It was the first drawing that I was going to post on my site in 2008.  Also, I had the video camera ready to capture myself actually drawing this.  Once I'd chosen the subject Varun helped me set up the camera and I started recording.  The intent was to use oil pastels to make this picture, but that attempt didn't turn out well (the pastels weren't good, they were more like crayons and I couldn't blend colours properly), so I switched to using watercolours.  That didn't come out properly either (this particular set had no white colour!).  So the sheets of paper were thrown out and the recorded footage was discarded!

Before throwing out the painted page though, I smudged the watercolour on a fresh page and it created an interesting design.  I decided to draw with my trusted ballpoint pen directly on that.  Started recording too.  Finally, I ended up with a drawing I was quite happy with, and the paint smudge made it look all the more interesting.  I'd also got enough footage to put together a video, so I later edited that (and sped it up — actual drawing time is somewhere around 40 to 45 minutes, but the video is just 3 minutes long) and there you have it, the finished drawing, and my very first "speed drawing" video!  Click the below image to view the video on YouTube.

I'm happy with this attempt at video-making.  So plans for future videos include: pencil drawing, drawing original stuff (rather than a movie poster, this would also show how to plan a drawing right from the idea to the finished piece), computer colouring, etc.  Hope you enjoy the video!

Simply awesome! =) I always asked myself how you drew, not I can see it. ;) Nevertheless I wouldn't ever be able to draw like you, even with a "model". You are an artist! :)

Dark Fate 2 — a Doom II map by Karthik Abhiram

Dark Fate 2 is a singleplayer level for Doom II, replacing MAP01.  It's a small-sized hellish level — and there's a walkthrough video as well.
