Watched on STAR Movies.  Brilliant Steven Spielberg movie!

Final Destination (2000)seen 5 Jan 03 · 6 out of 10

Watched on HBO.  Not bad, but I thought it started getting a bit silly as it progressed.

Watched on Zee MGM.

Bringing Out The Dead (1999)seen 10 Jan 03 · 7 out of 10

Watched on STAR Movies.  Martin Scorsese's film is terrific to look at and very absorbing, but I thought it became a bit abstract.

The Dark Half (1991)seen 25 Jan 03 · 8 out of 10

Watched on STAR Movies.  I actually saw this movie in 1996, it has been a long time since.  Scary, well made movie.

American Beauty (1999)seen 29 Jan 03 · 9 out of 10

Watched on STAR Movies.  I had seen part of this movie before, but this time I got to see the whole thing.  Very involving movie, I loved the music score!

Watched on STAR Movies.  Never saw this movie fully before, I had a tape with about 20 mins removed.

Watched on STAR Movies.  Nice action/martial-arts movie with a nice performance from Jean-Cluade Van Damme.

Red Dragon (2002)seen 26 Feb 03 · 10 out of 10

Watched in the theatre.  Brilliant movie, fantastic acting, great music.

Lethal Weapon 4 (1998)seen 2 Mar 03 · 8 out of 10

I saw this before in 1998, saw now on STAR Movies.  Enjoyed it a lot more than before, for some reason!

Cobra (1986)seen 6 Mar 03 · 5 out of 10

Watched it on HBO.  I saw it many years back in the theatre (probably 1993 or something).

The Ring (2002)seen 7 Mar 03 · 8 out of 10

Watched in the theatre.  One of the few horror movies that actually scared me!

Planet of the Apes (2001)seen 14 Mar 03 · 7 out of 10

Tim Burton's version is a very well made movie with excellent effects.  The changes to the story, I thought made it more complicated, though.

The Exorcist (1973)seen 16 Mar 03 · 10 out of 10

I think this is the scariest movie I've ever seen.  Seen on HBO, this was a censored version of the 2000 expanded edition.

Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth (1992)seen 22 Mar 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Two problems: not scary at all, story doesn't make much sense.  But it's a lot of fun.

Child's Play 3 (1991)seen 24 Mar 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  The Chucky doll effects were awesome but otherwise I didn't think the movie was that good.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)seen 28 Mar 03 · 9 out of 10

Seen in the theatre.  Spectacular!  Can't wait for the third movie!

Jurassic Park III (2001)seen 29 Mar 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies.  A short, action filled sequel with unintentionally funny bits!

K-911 (1999)seen 2 Apr 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  A direct-to-video film, it was enjoyable.

Max Knight: Ultra Spy (2000)seen 3 Apr 03 · 3 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  A made-for-TV movie, this was pretty ridiculous.

Bend It Like Beckham (2002)seen 6 Apr 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies.  Involving comedy/drama.

Daredevil (2003)seen 11 Apr 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen in the theatre.  Fun movie.

Star Trek: First Contact (1996)seen 13 Apr 03 · 10 out of 10

Bollywood Calling (2001)seen 13 Apr 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies, right after Star Trek: First Contact.  Well done comedy/drama from director/writer Nagesh Kukunoor.

3 Ninjas Kick Back (1994)seen 14 Apr 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on AXN.  Fun Home Alone style action comedy.

Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991)seen 15 Apr 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  From the director of Commando, this is a fun martial arts action movie featuring a great combination of Dolph Lundgren and Brandon Lee.  The kind of movie I'd like to watch over and over again!

Cold Harvest (1998)seen 25 Apr 03 · 3 out of 10

Seen on AXN.  Starring Gary Daniels and Bryan Genesse, it's an action-kickboxing-western movie set in the future.  Silly stuff, and I have no idea what the title means.

The Hurricane (1999)seen 25 Apr 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies.  Denzel Washington in the true story of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter - boxer who was wrongly convicted for murder.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)seen 26 Apr 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen in the theatre.  I liked this movie better than the first, thanks to it's darker, more spooky tone.  An imaginative fantasy.

American Desi (2001)seen 27 Apr 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies.  Nice comedy.

Tales from the Crypt Presents Bordello of Blood (1996)seen 2 May 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Not scary at all, redeemed by it's sense of humour.

Snatch. (2000)seen 3 May 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Guy Ritchie's follow up to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is more of the same fun!

Seen on HBO.  Yeah, baby!

Gone in 60 Seconds (2000)seen 9 May 03 · 7 out of 10

Wings of Hope (2000)seen 11 May 03 · 5 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies.  Melodramatic.

Cradle 2 the Grave (2003)seen 18 May 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen in the theatre.  Slick well-made action movie, with Jet Li, DMX.  Nice soundtrack.

Naked Gun 33 1/3: The Final Insult (1994)seen 19 May 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on STAR Movies.  Continuous laughs!

Charlie's Angels (2000)seen 25 May 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on AXN.  Lots of fun, lots of action.

Cyborg (1989)seen 28 May 03 · 4 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Violent action is the only redeeming factor of this otherwise bad movie.  Movie started at 12 AM on 29th May.

Bhoot (2003)seen 5 Jun 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen in the theatre.  Terrific horror movie.

Cruel Intentions 2: Manchester Prep (2000)seen 6 Jun 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Pretty twisted.

Cruel Intentions (1999)seen 13 Jun 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on AXN.  Nicely acted drama.

The Mothman Prophecies (2002)seen 15 Jun 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Creepy, very stylish supernatural thriller.

The Matrix Reloaded (2003)seen 16 Jun 03 · 10 out of 10

Seen in the theatre.  Better than the first one definitely, excellent movie.

The Tailor of Panama (2001)seen 19 Jun 03 · 6 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  Nicely acted spy thriller, as a movie it was OK.

Bruce Almighty (2003)seen 5 Jul 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Movie Dome).  The first movie I'm watching after coming to TAPMI!  This was a generally good Jim Carrey comedy, though I didn't like it as much as the Ace Ventura movies.

Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003)seen 10 Jul 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Movie Dome).  It didn't compare with T2 (I didn't expect it to), but it wasn't a bad movie.

Darna Mana Hai (2003)seen 27 Jul 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Movie Galaxy).  I love the anthology format, and that's why this movie was right up my alley!  Also, I loved it's bizarre sense of humour.  Good mix of suspense, horror, fantasy, the supernatural, the plain weird and quite a bit of comedy too.

Koi... Mil Gaya (2003)seen 15 Aug 03 · 0 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Movie Dome).  A science-fiction, romance, musical, family entertainer, all rolled into one.  The fact that the basic plot is a mix between E.T. and Forrest Gump is frightening enough.

American Wedding (2003)seen 17 Aug 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Shantala).  The third movie in the American Pie series, this was an entertaining film (has some really disgusting jokes though, so it's not for those who are easily offended).

Freddy vs. Jason (2003)seen 31 Aug 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Movie Dome).  Two great horror movie villains (Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees) battle it out in the same film.  And it's directed by Ronny Yu.  A B-grade horror movie done with the class and style of an A-grade film, it's a treat for those who have a wicked sense of humour.

Boom (2003)seen 9 Sep 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen in a video theatre (Shantala).  Director Kaizad Gustad blends the fashion world and the underworld in this offbeat action movie.  Now the official release date is September 19, I got to see a "Working Copy", which might explain the lack of flow in the movie (or maybe it IS that way on purpose?).

Girl Friend (2003)seen 13 Sep 03 · 2 out of 10

This movie was played on the bus while I was travelling from Manipal to Hyderabad on my Term Break.  A two and a half hour plus time waster of a Telugu movie, gives new meaning to the term "plotless".  A dumb movie (and I mean that in a bad way).

Nijam (2003)seen 13 Sep 03 · 7 out of 10

This movie was played on the bus while I was travelling from Manipal to Hyderabad on my Term Break.  I was a bit apprehensive about watching another Telugu movie just after the previous one, but fortunately this was a good movie.  A very violent and disturbing revenge saga, it was overlong and at times stretched credibility... but like I said, well done.

Project A Part II (1987)seen 14 Sep 03 · 10 out of 10

Ah, back home again!  This movie was shown on STAR Movies on Sep. 1, and I asked my mother to record it.  And I watched it after coming home.  A great sequel to a great movie (Project A is my favourite Jackie Chan movie).

Slugs the Movie (1987)seen 16 Sep 03 · 5 out of 10

Watched on STAR Movies (actually, Sep. 16, 1 AM).  An okay horror movie, with oversized man eating slugs.  Watchable, but be warned that it is badly acted and contains some bad dialogue!

Dead Awake (2000)seen 16 Sep 03 · 6 out of 10

Watched on STAR Movies (actually, Sep. 16, 2:30 AM or so).  An offbeat murder mystery.  Stephen Baldwin is a businessman who sleeps during the day (with his eyes open!) and goes for walks at night.  One fine night, he sees a man being killed.  Stylishly told story, but not totally clear.

Spy Kids 2: Island of Lost Dreams (2002)seen 16 Sep 03 · 10 out of 10

STAR Movies showed this on Sep. 5 and it was recorded for me!  I thoroughly enjoyed this second outing, thanks to the imaginative mind and storytelling style of Writer-Producer-Editor-Cinematographer-Director Robert Rodriguez.  Mr. Rodriguez rules!

Assassins (1995)seen 17 Sep 03 · 7 out of 10

Watched on HBO.  This is one of those movies I should have watched when it originally came out!  Anyway, this was a well made action film (director is Richard Donner) with good acting from Sly Stallone and Julianne Moore, and excellent acting from Antonio Banderas, as the hitman who wants to prove himself #1 by killing them both.  Writers of this movie are the Wachowski Brothers!

Hannibal (2001)seen 14 Oct 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  I'd watched this on a "just about decent" videotape before.  This time the print was very good and I appreciated the movie more.

Fight Club (uncensored) (1999)seen 18 Oct 03 · 10 out of 10

This is already one of my all-time favourite movies, but the reason I'm mentioning it again is that this time, I got to see the uncut version (rented it on CD).  Need I say it's BRILLIANT?

Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)seen 19 Oct 03 · 6 out of 10

My friend Ganeshan had given me this movie on a CD for my birthday many months ago, I brought it with me to TAPMI and got to see it only on this date.  I actually started the movie at about 2:30 AM, so it ended past 4.  Disappointing entry in the Star Trek movie series.

Identity (2003)seen 26 Oct 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen at Movie Dome.  Starts off like a conventional mystery, with ten people coming together at a motel, being killed off one by one - but the eventual resolution of the story is something very different from what you'd expect.  Good movie.

Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003)seen 30 Oct 03 · 10 out of 10

Seen at Shanthala.  It's a Quentin Tarantino movie!!  Uma Thurman is The Bride, who wakes up after 4 years in a coma, wanting revenge on the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad (of which she was a former member, before her boss Bill decided to kill her).  Amazing, amazing movie!

Scary Movie 3 (2003)seen 5 Nov 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen at Shanthala, 5:30 PM.  The third installment is a PG-13 rated movie so it's cleaner than the previous two entries (which I haven't seen).  Basically a Hot Shots!-type spoof movie, with The Ring, Signs and 8 Mile as the primary targets.  Enjoyable!

Ring (1998)seen 5 Nov 03 · 8 out of 10

Seen on HBO (9 PM).  This is the original Japanese movie, directed by Nakada Hideo, on which the 2002 U.S. remake was based.  Very creepy movie, nicely done too. A.K.A. Ringu.

The Firm (1992)seen 5 Nov 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on HBO (11 PM).  Well-made law thriller/drama with Tom Cruise getting a high-paying job at a top law firm in Memphis, only to find they've got links with the Mafia.

Blue Streak (2000)seen 8 Nov 03 · 7 out of 10

Seen on HBO.  I watched this in the theatre some years ago.

Phone Booth (2003)seen 11 Nov 03 · 8 out of 10

Watched at The Den.  Compact, well acted and well made thriller with Colin Farrell as a publicist who is held hostage in a phone booth by an unseen sniper!

Memento (2000)seen 30 Nov 03 · 10 out of 10

I got the CD and watched this.  An amazing thriller with Guy Pearce as a detective who is trying to find his wife's killer - but he has no short term memory!  It was Nov. 30, 2 AM - 4 AM when I saw it.

The Matrix Revolutions (2003)seen 29 Dec 03 · 9 out of 10

Seen at the Prasad IMAX theatre at Hyderabad.  I thought this was a nice conclusion to the trilogy, though I expected a more complex movie.  The visual effects were simply stunning and better than anything I've seen!

Dark Fate 2 — a Doom II map by Karthik Abhiram

Dark Fate 2 is a singleplayer level for Doom II, replacing MAP01.  It's a small-sized hellish level — and there's a walkthrough video as well.
