The Review

There's a new international criminal in town — the mysterious "A" (Hrithik Roshan) is known for high-profile thefts all around the world, the only trademark being the steel letter A left at the scene of each crime. Supercop Jai Dikshit (Abhishek Bachchan) predicts that A's next crime would take place in Mumbai, and then the game is afoot — he and his comrades, Ali (Uday Chopra), and his former classmate, now turned police officer Shonali (Bipasha Basu) set out to trap him. Add in Sunehri (Aishwarya Rai) who may or may not be a criminal herself, and the movie stays true to its tagline of "Back in Action".

This sequel to the 2004 superhit Dhoom has a great starcast, and promised to take the stunts and style to the next level. Certainly, it delivers on that promise, as there are several "big" and creative stunts. The movie is extremely stylish, with plenty of slow-motion shots and well-staged action sequences. As a result, the movie is very entertaining, though never believable for a second.

On the negative side of things though, the story has been very much dumbed down compared to the first film (which didn't have all that great a story in the first place!), and by the second half — where the scene shifts to Brazil and Shonali's twin sister Monali is introduced, for no other purpose than ensuring that Bipasha Basu has a role in the latter half of the film — it felt as though they were simply making up things as they went along. Acting-wise, Hrithik Roshan made an impression, while Uday Chopra's character was a bit irritating (I don't remember it being that way in the first film). The worst was probably Aishwarya Rai's character — I don't know whether it was bad acting, bad writing or bad direction (or all three), but she was never convincing in the role.

But for all its faults, Dhoom 2 still remains an entertaining movie when watched on the big screen, and has a nice soundtrack as well. "Dhoom Once Again", indeed!

Ratings Info

I rate all movies or game add-ons on a scale of 1 to 10 points. 1 is the lowest score, 6 is barely above average, 8 is good, and 10 is excellent (this score doesn't indicate something that is perfect in every way — it just means that I enjoyed it a lot). You'll find that I tend to give ratings of 8 and above often (that's only because I enjoy whatever I'm reviewing!). Reviews are updated as felt necessary. Of course, everything said in these reviews is my humble opinion only.

I do agree, I am very liberal with ratings...

But you're right. A 7 is on the higher side for "Dhoom 2"... but then, I think it's definitely better than a 6. So I rounded upwards :)

I like blockbusters n pulp fiction, thts not the reason why, but what exactly did u expect Sunheri to be 'like' here?all she had to do was add to the love intrst of the hero and to the oomph wh she did with panache and far more effectively than Shona-Monali, wdnt u say? And the chemstry bet the two lead pair was quite lovely actually too if u consider all the expectation busters released tht part of the year, nai?
glad I came, wd b back to look at this section from time to time...to mke more issues out of non-issues :) thx

Dark Fate 2 — a Doom II map by Karthik Abhiram

Dark Fate 2 is a singleplayer level for Doom II, replacing MAP01. It's a small-sized hellish level — and there's a walkthrough video as well.
