After World War II, the Germans buried 240 tons of gold (plundered from various other countries) in a secret military base somwhere in the Sahara desert.  The United Nations requests Duke Scapio (Bozidar Smiljanic) to recover it.  The Duke immediately calls his old friend Jackie (Jackie Chan), an explorer/adventurer (who is known as the "Condor", the "Asian Hawk" and the "Eagle of the East") who he knows, is the best man for the job.  Jackie is promised one percent of the bullion for his efforts, and so he agrees to venture into the Sahara to find the lost military base.

Jackie's companions are Ada (Carol Cheng), an expert on the desert climates, Elsa (Eva Cobo de Garcia), the grand-daughter of the German officer in charge of the base, and Momoko (Shoko Ikeda), a nomadic antique-seller.  Soon, enemies who also want to find the gold are after them, and Jackie and his friends must do their best to survive in the desert, and evade desert bandits, two Arabs who are after the gold, and a mysterious man leading a band of soldiers, who cause more trouble.

This is one of Jackie Chan's best movies, and along with Project A, is my choice for the Best Jackie Chan movie ever.  It has fantastic action/martial-arts sequences (even better than usual), spectacular photography (at a cost of HK$115 million, one of the most expensive films ever made in Hong Kong), with scenes in Spain, the Phillippines, and Morocco, a terrific music score (I don't know what music is there in the U.S. version, I'm referring to Chris Babida's music in the English Dubbed version by General Screen Enterprises), and as always, Jackie blends hilarious comedy with all the action.  An excellent sequel to The Armour of God.  Apparently, in the U.S., The Armour of God was released AFTER this movie, as a prequel, Operation Condor 2!

The version of the movie I have seen is the English dubbed version by General Screen Enterprises.  Apparently, the English version of the movie released in the US is a lot shorter (I think only 90 minutes).  I don't know what changes are made in that version.
