The Review

Tommy Jarvis (Thom Mathews), the young boy whose family was killed by Jason Voorhees (in Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter) has spent years under psychiatric treatment.  At the beginning of this movie, Tommy and a friend drive to Jason's grave, wanting to destroy the body once and for all.  I couldn't figure out why Tommy was carrying Jason's hockey mask with him, but anyway, the two dig up Jason's grave.  Unfortunately a lightning bolt strikes the body and... resurrects Jason!  At this point I was going "Aw, come ON!!".  Mind you, all this happens within the first fifteen or so minutes of the movie.

Jason heads back to his old killing ground, Camp Crystal Lake (which has now changed it's name), and menaces a new group of campers.  Tommy tries to warn the town's sherriff, but he won't listen to him.  Gory violence ensues!

After watching the first Friday the 13th, I directly jumped to this part 6, so I couldn't compare this with the others in the series.  Anyway, some days later, I watched Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (Part IV), and in comparison, this movie was a lot better.

Jason Lives was a pretty good movie.  Of course, there is practically no story, and the opening of the movie, I thought was quite idiotic.  I also thought the acting was pretty bad.  But there's a big advantage this movie had - it was actually scary.  There were many creepy scenes with Jason being his usual psycho self.  Not all the scare scenes worked for me, but I'm not complaining.  There were also jokes in this movie, which added that bit of humour, but on the downside I thought it took away some of the scare factor.  But inspite of the flaws, I liked this movie because it atleast had characters that I actually cared for.  Friday fans will anyway like this movie, but to people who are just getting introduced to the series, I would recommend this one.

Ratings Info

I rate all movies or game add-ons on a scale of 1 to 10 points.  1 is the lowest score, 6 is barely above average, 8 is good, and 10 is excellent (this score doesn't indicate something that is perfect in every way — it just means that I enjoyed it a lot).  You'll find that I tend to give ratings of 8 and above often (that's only because I enjoy whatever I'm reviewing!).  Reviews are updated as felt necessary.  Of course, everything said in these reviews is my humble opinion only.

Dark Fate 2 — a Doom II map by Karthik Abhiram

Dark Fate 2 is a singleplayer level for Doom II, replacing MAP01.  It's a small-sized hellish level — and there's a walkthrough video as well.
