As I already mentioned, my brother Varun created a new theme for my site, which I liked so much, that I made it the default! So it is probably what you are looking at right now, and for those of you who have already chosen a site theme before, you can try the new one by clicking this link.
For those of you who are new to the site, let me explain what I mean by site theme - you see, on this site, you can pick the way the pages look. Just go to the Customise page and you'll find a set of links that change the look of the site. You can choose the one you like best, or just choose Mixing Things Up... The Varun Way, which is the default theme.
Oh and some breaking news, just this afternoon I got an email from Curt Roff, of a heavy metal band called Anternicy. It seems they are working on a demo and for the cover of this, they want to use my Nasty Little Thing drawing! I think that's pretty cool, eh?
This is the update where I will write about the movies I've seen between the last update and now. Without any further ado, let's go to the list!
Oh, and as promised last time, there's a new addition to the Movie Reviews page. It's none other than the 2nd film from writer-director Quentin Tarantino - Pulp Fiction - one of my all-time favourite movies!
The Matrix Revolutions was released worldwide yesterday, and my parents and brother are going to see it on an IMAX screen on Sunday! I'll have to wait a while to see it though!
I got to play several good maps in the recent few days. Like Quick and Deadly by DooMBoy, FBase 6: Remanasu by Boris Iwanski, Heart by Nanami (didn't play this one fully though) and Not Another E1 Wad by Kaiser (very cool one).
Like many Doom mappers, I discovered this amazing editor called Doom Builder (by Pascal vd Heiden a.k.a. Gherkin) recently. And I've switched completely to using it for my mapping! It's a great piece of software, and it has inspired me to do some more work on the maps I started a couple of months back!
So what's going on with this as-yet-untitled project of mine, which will feature an as-yet-undetermined number of levels, to be released on an as-yet-undetermined date? The first map which I started (the Plutonia/E1 style one) now has a lot more detail and areas added (still perfectly compatible with doom2.exe), and I'm really happy with it. I think it's got the right balance between being a complex level and being a MAP01 for an episode! I thought of a name for this, it's going to be called We've Only Just Begun. I added a couple of rooms to MAP02 (the Wolfenstein-style one), but nothing major on this map. This will be called Get Them Before They Get You!, after the name of the Wolfenstein music track which I've chosen for it.
Doom Builder's 3D editing mode doesn't work on my computer, but even without that I'm finding it a great editor to make maps in. I am still working with v0.09 build 113, I need to get some more floppies to transfer the recently released v1.1 to my computer!
Once again, here I am after about a one-month gap! The Second Term here at TAPMI is halfway through, the Mid Term Exams got over just yesterday. My friend Guru tells me that there are 44 days left for this term to get over completely - after which I will be going for the Outbound Programme, and then I'll get to visit home again! Well, here are the updates, week-wise as has become the norm for this kind of thing -
I have got more things to say in the next few posts...
Dark Fate 2 is a singleplayer level for Doom II, replacing MAP01. It's a small-sized hellish level — and there's a walkthrough video as well.
