I managed to get some good work done on the site yesterday and today.  I'm very happy with this colour scheme I came up with — light blue is pleasant on the eyes.  I also got the comments system started.  Basically, displaying comments seems to be working fine.  Now I have to actually write the PHP code for inserting comments into the database through forms.  I discovered that my host has enabled the GD library, so I can actually generate a random image for anti-spam "word verification".  In other words, work is progressing well, I only wish I had a few more holidays so that I can work more on the site!

In other news, I watched James Gunn's Slither last night.  It was an entertaining horror-comedy, with lots of gore and splatter.  I'd rate this one a 7 on 10.

It's been four years since I first set up this site — however, when I went off to TAPMI in 2003 I didn't have access to FTP, and when I came to Chennai in 2005, I didn't have proper access to internet itself, hence the experimenting with Blogger and WordPress.  When it was time to renew my hosting package with Net4Domains, it became necessary to re-upload all the content to this site, so I thought why not also do a redesign.

The "Reloaded" version of Karthik82.com will feature better XHTML compliance, a layout controlled by CSS, re-integration of all my content at one place, and a new comments feature.  This post is also the first one I'm making on the new setup, and I am going to add a comment to it as well.  Let us see how it works out.
