Opulent updated the Doomed Speed Demos Archive with a terrific batch of demos yesterday.  I spent a lot of time yesterday watching Doom demos!  The goodies in the latest update...

• Varun's 1:57 demo for my map Out of Phase 3 has been uploaded.  I think this is one of Varun's best demos yet!
• I watched Michael "Maikl" Novikov's 48 minute long demo of the entire Retro Episode in the evening.
• Maikl did a large number of demos as usual, but there was one particular WAD whose name caught my attention.  This was called Bilbo's Smegging WAD, and it was made in 1994.  Most surprising is that it was by Brad Spencer (author of Atomic Tomb)!  It's a good map and a nice demo too.
• Just a few minutes ago I watched two Albert Valls demos of Retro Episode E1M1.  The UV speedrun he did in 8 seconds, and a nomonsters run in 7 seconds.
• Now.  There is one demo I watched twice yesterday.  It is about 24 minutes long, and when I watched with -timedemo, it ran about 22 minutes.  It's an amazing demo from Drew "stx-Vile" DeVore.  The map he played was Hell Revealed 2 MAP32, which has 1665 monsters (seems like there are a few billion in there though!!).  It's a map which to me, seems impossible even to play, let alone complete.  I was a bit surprised to see Opulent's 5/6/6 rating (maximum is 5/5/5, heh) for this demo, but now I know why.
• Opulent also put up a WAD file (made by Andre Majorel) where the map is built on the "edge of the Doom universe".  The X and Y coordinates of the vertices on a Doom level are C int values, and the limit for an int is 32767.  This WAD has a map which touches the edge!

The update ZIP file with all the new demos is 2.5 MB in size, worth getting!  It also includes the 2002: A Doom Odyssey Demopack.
